Jaylend Jones - Founder/Director/ Coach

With Roots stemming from Pacifica, CA and Columbus, Ohio, Newport Navigators founder/director Coach Jaylend has always had a passion for sports. With a step father who played professionally, Jaylend learned the ins and outs of sports from a young age, and has never looked back since. Playing in the AAU circuit himself and also playing sports in college, Jaylend has a dying passion for development and has an energetic, passionate personality to match his intensity. Jaylend has been working with NBA skills trainer Jordan Lawley where he carries out his passion for watching the younger generation get better. “I can’t wait for what’s to come and beyond excited to help develop tomorrow’s future on and off the court”

Oliver Pick - Asst Director/ Coach

I am very excited to be a part of the Newport Navigators and have the opportunity to coach kids in my local community. Being an alumni and having played basketball at Newport Harbor (2021) it brings me great joy giving back to current and future sailors. Currently, I attend Concordia University Irvine, majoring in kinesiology, where I also work with the Men’s Basketball team. With that, I currently coach JV basketball at Newport Harbor and am heavily involved with the program as whole. I have also been blessed to work internships with the Los Angeles Lakers and NBA Skills Trainer Jordan Lawley. My favorite thing about coaching is seeing kids develop, learn the game and have fun, which basketball is all about.

Jonah Tolmaire - Coach

My name is Coach Jonah, I’m from Mission Viejo, California. I started playing basketball at the age of 6, and never looked back! What I love about basketball so much is the places it’s taken me, and opportunities it’s blessed me with. Basketball has taken me across the world in countries like the Philippines, and Taiwan. I’ve also been blessed to achieve my dream of playing college basketball, and being able to earn a degree from Concordia University Irvine. Basketball has taught me many valuable life lessons such as respect, accountability, and resilience. I look forward to sharing my knowledge and, passion of the game to the next generation of players!

Jaden Henderson - Coach

Coach Jaden from Sacramento, California got introduced to basketball at a young age. Basketball was so much more to him than putting the basketball in the hoop. It was learning how to be disciplined, committed, being a leader, and working hard. Coach Jaden was blessed to be able to play basketball at the collegiate level on a scholarship at Concordia University where he has developed a vast network of coaches. Coach Jaden’s purpose is to help develop and shape basketball players both on and off the court, preparing them for life on after basketball.

Ryan Ross - Executive Operations Manager

My name is Ryan Ross I just recently graduated from Providence College and am originally from New Jersey. I have been blessed to be able to combine my love for the sport of basketball and my degree in Business management to find myself on the other side of the country working for NBA skills trainer Jordan Lawley. It has led me to various new niches in the sport landing me with the Newport Navigators as well. I hope to be a key part in the continued growth of this program and am dedicated to make the Newport Navigators and Sunset Select a primary destination for young players aspiring to play at the next level.
